Nathan Youngblood and Will Merkle, Arizona

Artist Bios and Information
Tucson Arizona native Nathan Youngblood has had a lifelong fascination with sound.
“Whether it’s the grinding of machinery or wind in the palms, there is a never ending musical soundtrack that follows me. From a young age I surrounded myself with music from around the globe and got my hands on as many noisemakers and instruments as I could. I quickly learned that there was no set structure or rules when I was the player.”

In the last decade, Youngblood’s inspiration for creation has been the extremes in the region in which he lives.

“The grandiose and macro visuals here. The extreme hot and cold. The soft and the jagged. There is a unique feeling here, and though not always literal, it constantly plays out in my creation.”

Aside from light use of synthesizers, his main source of instrumentation is organic and acoustic. With the use of processed Tibetan bowls, mesquite seeds, cholla wood, guitars, sitar, bones, rocks and water, Youngblood creates mysterious meditative worlds.

His debut, “Asunder” was produced and released by long time friend Steve Roach. Along with new music explorations and he continues to work with Steve creating cover art for his SoundQuest Music and Timeroom Editions labels.

William Merkle is a guitarist/bassist/sound designer based out of Tucson, AZ. He has made several guest appearances with Steve Roach over the years and frequently collaborates with Nate Youngblood. His favored weapon of choice is guitar and gravitates towards elements of ambient, doom metal and dub. New releases will be forthcoming in 2021. Finally.

Prior to moving to Arizona 26 years ago, he spent his years in various rock and metal bands on the East Coast. He dabbled in DJ’ing and sound engineering, and recorded and produced several local independent music artists.

Jeff Greinke, Arizona

Artist Bio and Information
Jeff Greinke is a renowned composer of ambient, electro-acoustic and experimental music. Through a highly developed process of layering, Jeff composes and performs music rich in texture, depth, mood, and subtle detail. Jeff is a former meteorology student, and the weather has always remained a central theme of his heavily atmospheric work, which blends electronic and acoustic instruments and textures to produce haunting yet inviting soundscapes with a strong sense of place, hovering somewhere between the exotic and the familiar.

Jeff began composing and performing music in 1980 while studying meteorology at Pennsylvania State University. After moving to Seattle in 1982, Jeff formed the production company and recording label, INTREPID, through which he produced his first LP, Cities in Fog. Howard Givens, Oregon
Madhavi Devi, Texas
Craig Padilla, California

Artist Bio and Information
Howard Givens is a life-long fan, advocate and creator of ambient-electronic music, as well as the principle mastering engineer and an original founding partner of the Spotted Peccary Music record label. As a longtime established electronic recording artist, he has collaborated with Craig Padilla, Madhavi Devi, and – as part of Brain Laughter – with Steve Roach and others, as well as appearing as a guest artist on many recordings including works by Jon Jenkins and Deborah Martin.

He has mastered many of the titles on Spotted Peccary Music as well as many releases for Steve Roach and others primarily in electronic music, and has been responsible for defining the overall sound of the Spotted Peccary label.

For him, this has been a creative exploration into the depth and dimension of sound and space, since a vital component of ambient-electronic music is all about an immersive experience, where such subtleties are integral to the composition. And perhaps most importantly, his never-ending pursuit of the ambient form has been continually intertwined with an ongoing observation of the process of life itself, expressed through this abstract language of sound.

web: https://spottedpeccary.com/artists/howard-givens/

Creative muse, Visual artist, Electronic musician, Harpist, and Meditative Sound Painter Madhavi Devi (Cheryl Gallagher) produces and performs music and art with intention towards supernal inner growth and development, composing inspiring sound-spaces and artworks reflective of mystical vibrations and light from the center of being. Madhavi’s album art is often graced with her own mystical meditative artworks giving listeners a deeper perspective on her music as well as insight into her unique creative personality. Her critically acclaimed releases feature rich textures and nuanced melodic structures that are evocatively moving and intimate, and yet celestial in scope.

Madhavi was an active professional instrumentalist and recording artist before meeting Howard Givens of Spotted Peccary Music at a music conference in 1999, traveling to Nepal and Tibet with SPM artists Deborah Martin and Mark Hunton soon after, and releasing their collaborative album “TIBET” in 2003. Madhavi has remained active in music and associated with the SPM label, releasing most recently “Source of Compassion” with Howard Givens in 2016 and her first solo album on SPM, “The Truth of Being” in 2018.

web: https://www.madhavidevi.com/

Craig Padilla is an internationally celebrated and award-winning electronic music artist (and video producer). After more than two decades of performing live and recording his own music using many analog and digital synthesizers, his style reflects the classic electronic musicians of the past, while finding new sound and music styles that are unique to the true ambient electronic music genre (often found in categories from New Age to Trance to Electronica).

Never letting technology overcome the humanity in his compositions, he creates electronic music that is rooted in tradition while still sounding new, interesting, and fresh.
He has composed soundtracks for various television, theatrical, and film productions. His music is heard on XM Satellite Radio, all streaming platforms, and on celebrated radio programs such as “Echoes.”

Ambient Lounge (Bluetech)

More Information
Evan Bartholomew has been performing electronic music for nearly 20 years as Bluetech, Evan Marc and Invisible Allies (with Kilowatts).

As an internationally recognized touring music producer with over 27 album / EP releases and a seasoned portfolio of video game and film scoring credits, Bluetech is a master of analog and modular sound synthesis and DSP audio manipulation. He brings a passion for sound design and cutting edge audio exploration into all the work he touches. His music transcends the constructs normally associated with a calculated “electronic artist,” pursuing music with meaning and purpose with downtempo, future bass and progressive electronic music, rife with emotional intent and poly-rhythmic percussion.

Bluetech began his training as a classically trained pianist at a young age, and has explored his craft as a DJ, musician, film composer, record producer and label owner. His work has evolved to include his roots in classical composition and ear for nomadic harmonic progressions and a deep awareness of music as a kinetic force with body moving beat mechanics.

Working as a solo artist, as well as a producer, he has written scores for film and television (CSI: Miami, Scared Sacred, Occupy Love, Albedo Absolute, various television commercials), video games (Comet Crash 2 – forthcoming PS4) and virtual reality installations (MicrodoseVR). In addition to music, Evan has established a reputation as an accomplished graphic designer, illustrator, and 3D animator through both his personal work and commissions for clients (Microsoft, Austin City Limits, City Of Seattle). Bluetech has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, having shared stages with such acts as The Glitch Mob, The Orb, Bassnectar, Ott, Juno Reactor and many more.

Now focusing energy on his record label Behind The Sky, he is releasing limited edition vinyl albums from established and up and coming names in the modular synthesis community. Behind The Sky has quickly made a mark for quality and curation, and 2021 will be a banner year for releases from the label.
